Restoring chipped, broken or treated teeth

Restorative dentistry is about restoring the teeth and oral cavity after any disease or structural loss so that they can function as they are meant to and also look the way you’d like them to.

Crowns, bridges and dentures

Crowns and bridges can be used to replace missing teeth, or to strengthen or build up failing teeth that may have been weakened due to root canal work or a crack in the tooth. A crown is a single cap that is fixed on top of a single tooth, or onto pre-placed implant. A bridge is a tooth or a set of replacement teeth with a crown on each end that is fitted over existing teeth in order to form a bridge. They are a long-term solution which cannot be removed, so give increased support and stability within the mouth.

Dentures offer another solution for missing teeth, which is relatively quick and can be more cost-effective. Whether you require a complete set of dentures or a partial denture, wearing them will restore your ability to eat and speak with confidence and will support the bones and tissue in your mouth and face which would otherwise sag if you remained without teeth. Dentures are normally removable for easy cleaning and maintenance.

All of the above restorations can also be secured with implants for an even more secure, longer-lasting solution.

White fillings, inlays and onlays

White fillings or composites are used to build up existing teeth and restore them to their original form and function, using the latest bonding technology. Recently, the materials available for this sort of dental work have improved in strength and aesthetics and they are consequently a very popular treatment, particularly for visible front teeth. It is also a non-invasive treatment which builds on your existing tooth structure and involves the removal of only the decayed part of your tooth. Inlays and onlays are similar to composites and fill in areas of the teeth that have been lost, or when a filling needs to be replaced. Like composites, they are a healthier alternative to traditional amalgam fillings as they contain no metal, and they fit perfectly into the spaces that need to be filled so are less susceptible to decay once the restoration is completed.
